Before joining ENAC

Could you briefly introduce your background before you joined the advanced master in airport management (what was your education background, where did you work and what position did you occupy at the time)?

I have always wanted to work in aviation. Growing up in Reunion Island, aviation plays a central role in daily life as the airport is the main gateway to the island. I was always fascinated to watch aircraft take off from Roland Garros Airport in Sainte Marie and fly all the way to mainland France. And even more than being a gateway, I have always seen the airport as a place full of emotions, from people saying goodbye to loved ones or the joy of welcoming back family and friends.

After working as a Customer Service Representative for a money transfer company for 5 years, I decided to go back to university and pursue the aviation dream.

The year before I joined ENAC, I completed a Master’s degree in International Air Transport Management and Tourism at Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse, and had the opportunity to complete my internship at Biarritz Airport as a Duty Station Manager.
This experience allowed me to discover many aspects of airport operations, from passenger processing such as check in, boarding, and security, to disruption management including delays and weather related events. I was also involved in resource management, coordinating team members, check in counters, gates and aircraft stands. A rich experience in a 1M passenger airport, where I was able to touch every aspect of the operations.

What motivated you to choose this program back then and how did it align with your professional ambitions at that time?

One of the Duty Station Managers at Biarritz Airport was an alumnus of the Airport Management Advanced Master and strongly recommended the program to me. After exploring the curriculum I knew the Advanced Master in Airport Management was the right next step for me. Because I was exposed to a wide range of operational responsibilities and as a Duty Station Manager you are really the orchestrator of operations. This internship gave me a taste of what it means to run airport operations on a daily basis, and I wanted to develop my experience into real expertise.

What key technical and transversal skills did you acquire through the program?

The program helped me strengthen management and strategic thinking skills, while working on multiple business cases in a team setting. Many modules required collaborative work to analyse the situations and propose solutions. This was greatly appreciated as it developed strong teamwork capabilities and encouraged us to share different points of view to deliver the best outcomes.
The program also deep dive into technical knowledge around airports (I.e., airside limitation , terminal capacity, meteorology…) and provide a great understanding of how airports integrate within their broader environment, particularly when considering the many stakeholders involved in airport ecosystems.
The quality of the modules and the professionals delivering the lectures was exceptional. They combined strong theoretical foundations with real industry experience, which made the learning experience both practical and highly relevant. It also allowed us to build connections with stakeholders across the industry.

Do you think this degree gave you a competitive advantage and served as a career booster ? If yes, please explain how.

Definitely. The depth and quality of the knowledge acquired during the program provides strong foundations for building a career in the aviation industry. ENAC is also a well known and highly respected institution within the aviation sector, which naturally opens doors in the industry.
In my case, I had the opportunity to complete two internships. The first one was as Station Manager for Lufthansa at Toulouse Airport, where I discovered the airline side of airport operations within a 12 million passenger airport environment.

My second internship was as an Analyst Consultant at ICF in London, where I then had the chance to work for six years on global transformation projects for airlines, MRO organisations and airports. This experience has broadened my understanding of how airports operate within the wider aviation ecosystem.

Would you recommend this program and why?

Yes, I would recommend this program as it provides a comprehensive understanding of the airport and the aviation industry as a whole, while equipping students with the management techniques and analytical tools needed to succeed in the sector. It also brings together passionate individuals from around the world, which bring different perspective to the working groups, and that is what makes the learning experience even better.

What message would you send to future aviation professionals considering joining this program?

If you are willing to join the aviation industry and pursue a career within airport environments, I have absolutely no regrets about completing this Advanced Master. It has been one of the most valuable learning experiences of my life. For me, it was also a conscious decision to return to university with a clear objective, and I approached it with passion and dedication to learn and develop professionally.

Before joining ENAC

Could you briefly introduce your background before you joined the advanced master in airport management (what was your education background, where did you work and what position did you occupy at the time)?

I went to the American School of Tegucigalpa, a fully bilingual (English/Spanish) institution and then I got a degree in Business Administration in UNITEC, both in Honduras, my home country. I always knew I wanted to do more but right after my bachelor’s degree I was not sure what exactly, so I did a year abroad in Blois, France with the ICYE Organization. I got to travel and learn more about myself and what I wanted next. While in France I researched Airport Management and found out about the ENAC and its English masters and more specifically its Airport Management program. I decided to go back home and acquire professional experience so that it would enrich even further my masters experience. Right before going to the ENAC, I worked at British American Tobacco as a Finance Analyst, but the job consisted mostly in managing all administrative and logistics manners of the different sites in the central southern region of Honduras. This job helped me grow and learn and made me eager to pursue my career in the airport industry.

What motivated you to choose this program back then and how did it align with your professional ambitions at that time?

I was always passionate about airports, and it seemed to be my “dream job” whenever I thought about my future and when I researched the Mastère specialisé Airport Management it just clicked. I had a background in management, and I thought it made sense to pursue my passion with this master’s degree. The Airport Management overview program seemed very complete, and I knew it could give me all the insight and tools necessary to succeed in my dream to pursue a career in the airport industry, specifically. The professional experience that I had also made my ENAC experience even richer because I could compare to real life situations, I believe this is an added benefit of doing a master’s program after working for a couple of years.

What key technical and transversal skills did you acquire through the program?

During the airport management program at ENAC, I acquired several essential technical and soft skills. Technically, I developed in-depth knowledge of airport operations management, airport security among other subjects. I enhanced my project management, leadership, and teamwork abilities thanks to all the projects that we do throughout the program. I developed a better understanding of the regulatory and environmental challenges in the airport sector, enabling me to contribute to more sustainable practices that comply with current standards.

Do you think this degree gave you a competitive advantage and served as a career booster ? If yes, please explain how.

Yes, it totally did for me personally, it gives you an undeniable competitive advantage! I really wanted to work in Groupe ADP and I knew it would help me when I would eventually apply. The ENACs reputation is very respected within France and the aviation community worldwide. I feel very proud to have this program in my CV and for the doors it has opened as well as the people I met through it.

Your analysis some years after

In one sentence, how would you summarise the added value of this program?

The guest lecturers were, for me, very inspiring because we got to talk and exchange with people within the industry and that currently occupy very interesting and important roles. Their experience and feedback meant we got to learn from real-life situations, and we got to see how they dealt with them.

Would you recommend this program and why?

Yes, I would highly recommend this program to anyone who is passionate about airports. It gives you a well-rounded experience and also to be among people and guest lecturers that share your passion, this for me is priceless! I truly believe that every module and how the whole program is structured is meant to help you succeed in your future career aspirations. I truly appreciated that we got to visit different airports around France (Toulouse, Marseille, Perpignan, CDG and Orly) and got to have access to all areas and ask in-depth questions. Sometimes we were accompanied by ENAC alumni themselves making it even more special because they themselves were eager to share and answer our questions.

What message would you send to future aviation professionals considering joining this program?

This program is rich and essential in giving you all the necessary skills and information to succeed in your career. It pairs you with a diverse group of people from all over the world and you get to be in an environment that is passionate about the aviation industry. The access to visits and guest lecturers this program provides, in my opinion, is unmatched. Anybody looking to start or further a career in the airport industry can only be incredibly benefited in the long run and you also get to meet people that can become your lifetime friends.

Before joining ENAC, I graduated in Ukraine as an engineer specialized in road and aerodrome construction, and I began my career as an Airfield Operations Manager at a Ukrainian airport. After a period working in logistics and then relocating to France, I wanted to reconnect with the aviation sector but needed guidance on how to re-enter the field.

What motivated you to choose this program and how did it align with your ambitions?

Aviation has always been my passion, and my first experience at the airport left a lasting impression. When I moved to France, I wanted to return to this industry but needed a clear way forward. ENAC quickly stood out as the natural choice. The Advanced Master in Airport Management offered exactly what I was looking for: a one year, comprehensive program covering all key aspects of airport management, taught by experienced industry professionals. It provided the perfect bridge to relaunch my career in the French aviation sector.

What key technical and transversal skills did you acquire through the program?

The program covers all major areas of airport management, from operations and safety to marketing and finance. Beyond acquiring this broad technical knowledge, the program helped me uncover new professional interests. For instance, I discovered the air cargo sector during the course and my internship. Today, I work in Air Cargo Development at Paris CDG Airport, a dynamic and meaningful field I wouldn’t have imagined before.

Absolutely. The technical knowledge is a strong asset, but the real competitive advantage comes from the network you build. The program is taught by industry experts from different areas of the aviation ecosystem, and my classmates have since taken roles across airports, airlines, consulting firms, and aviation authorities around the world. Can you tell us about your background?

I did a preparatory school before joining ENSICA

The context in which I looked for a job was complex, I first turned down a first job, then after various adventures, including a few months in Australia, I did a thesis in computer vision at the University of La Rochelle in 2013. I then moved to Vietnam, first to an IT outsourcing company, then to my current company, Pixelz, the world leader in image retouching for e-commerce.

Why did you decide to pursue an international career?

It was the chance of life and my upbringing that led me to the international scene, rather than a clear-cut path. I went to Vietnam because my girlfriend was Vietnamese and wanted to go back. It’s also a state of mind. I’ve travelled a lot since I was a child because my family lives all over the world. I didn’t see any particular problem in going to another country. From my point of view, it’s like asking someone from Toulouse why they went to work in Nantes. It’s just a bit further away!

What advice would you give to someone looking for an international career?

In my experience, you need at least five years’ experience or a doctorate to work internationally. Obviously, you’ll need an excellent command of English or the local language.

There are plenty of opportunities in developing countries, where there is sometimes a shortage of highly qualified workers!

Can you tell us about your background?

I started my aerospace career in India with a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from SRMIST, Chennai, with a minor in Computer Science. Wanting to broaden my horizons, I decided to pursue a Masters in Aerospace Engineering at ISAE-SUPAERO in Toulouse, France.

As part of my Masters, I did a six-month work placement at Airbus, where I worked on simulating cockpit applications and understanding system behaviour. It was an excellent practical experience that enabled me to progress both technically and professionally. After graduating, I was delighted to join the Rolls-Royce postgraduate programme, where I continue to learn and develop in a fast-paced international environment.

Why did you decide to pursue an international career?

The idea of pursuing an international career first took root during my undergraduate studies in aerospace engineering in India, where I took part in global design competitions. Working with people from diverse backgrounds opened my eyes to the power of cross-cultural collaboration. I realised that if I wanted to evolve, I had to get out of my comfort zone.

This mindset led me to pursue a master’s degree at ISAE-SUPAERO in France, where I adopted a new academic culture and worked with international peers. My internship at Airbus confirmed that innovation thrives on diversity, and now, at Rolls-Royce, I continue to work in multicultural teams on cutting-edge projects. This journey has shaped not only my professional skills, but also who I am. I hope to inspire others, particularly women from under-represented backgrounds, to dream big and seize global opportunities.

What advice would you give to someone looking for an international career? Or one word that would define your career?

If you’re considering an international career, take the plunge. It’s scary at first: you’ll miss home and face challenges, but growth begins where comfort ends. Be open-minded, ask questions and make connections with people; most of them are friendlier than you think.

Learn the language, explore the culture and let yourself adapt. There’s nothing wrong with feeling lost sometimes – find some basic routines and don’t compare your journey with others. Accept discomfort as part of the experience. Above all, remain humble and grateful. The world is vast and full of lessons. As you discover it, you’ll also learn more about yourself.

An international career is not just about professional success; it's about becoming a fuller, more open and more adaptable version of yourself.

His career before ISAE-SUPAERO

What was your academic background before joining ISAE-SUPAERO?

I studied at the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, where I obtained a bachelor’s degree in physics and chemistry in 2006, followed by a master’s degree in ‘Materials, technology and components’ in 2008, in partnership with the CEA and the University of Paris-Saclay. This multidisciplinary training gave me a solid grounding in engineering sciences applied to industry and innovative technologies.

Did you already have professional experience before the Advanced Master®?

Yes. I wanted to join the army and I passed an officer’s competitive examination to join the French Army. I did a year’s training at the École spéciale militaire in Saint-Cyr, followed by a year at the École du génie in Angers.

I was posted to the 17th Parachute Engineer Regiment^(17e RGP) in Montauban, where I served for 4 years as an engineer combat section leader (rank of lieutenant).

I then joined the initial training centre for non-commissioned members of the 11th parachute brigade, as assistant officer, then unit commander (rank of captain), training more than 300 recruits a year. I was again transferred to the 17th RGP where I held various positions at the regimental headquarters (rank of commander): deputy to the head of operations, head of the administrative and budget section, then head of the training office.

Why did you choose ISAE-SUPAERO for your Advanced Master®?

In 2023, I passed the internal competitive examination for the Army’s technical diploma, which led to me being posted to the Centre d’Enseignement Militaire Supérieur Terre (CEMS-T) for high-level training within the Enseignement Militaire Supérieur Scientifique et Technique (EMSST). As part of this, I chose to do the IEM Advanced Master® at ISAE-SUPAERO to learn about project management, innovation and emerging technologies, directly related to my future job in the army’s technical section, in charge of armament programmes.

How did you hear about our Advanced Master® programme?

Army officers are regularly enrolled at ISAE-SUPAERO via the EMSST (MS APM, SPAPS and IEVEx in particular).

What specific skills or knowledge have you come to acquire in this programme?

The Advanced Master® enabled me to acquire a complete vision of entrepreneurship: from identifying the problem to turning a solution into reality, through ideation, field surveys, prototyping and the strategy for bringing a product to market. I was also able to deepen my understanding of business innovation and familiarise myself with the latest technologies (AI, hydrogen, 3D printing, etc.). The courses in project management, management, marketing, finance and communication will be invaluable to me in interacting with the defence industry in my future role.

What subjects, projects, challenges or experiences have particularly impressed you during your training?

The most memorable project was undoubtedly the PIE Project, the common thread running through the AM. In teams of 3 or 4 students, we followed the entire entrepreneurial process: Identifying a problem, Field surveys, Ideation, Definition of a business model, Marketing strategy, Prototyping, etc. This applied project synthesises all the skills acquired during the AM programme. We also had the opportunity to take it further as part of our work placement, when we joined ISAE-SUPAERO’s InnovSpace to incubate our start-up. An academic project that became a reality!

In your opinion, what are the main advantages of the programme that you have followed?

The strengths of this Master’s programme are numerous: lecturers from the biggest industrial groups (Airbus, Thales, Safran, CEA, etc.), a wealth of content covering innovation, finance, strategy, technology, entrepreneurship – intrapreneurship and cutting-edge technical resources (InnovSpace, Aérothèque). All this in a demanding and stimulating academic environment, with personalised coaching sessions with experts in the development of our PIE project. Academic excellence and a wide variety of courses are key features of this AM.

How would you describe student life at ISAE-SUPAERO?

The campus is pleasant and well served (bus, bike, car). It offers excellent sports facilities (swimming pool, weight room) and a dynamic student life, punctuated by numerous events (conferences, activities, etc.). The career centre also offers a wide range of events for students.

What are your career plans?

As a career officer, I am continuing my commitment to the army’s technical section, which is responsible for armaments programmes, working with the DGA and DTIB manufacturers.

How will your Advanced Master® prepare you to achieve these goals?

The programme enabled me to acquire a solid understanding of the industrial and entrepreneurial world and its project management, innovation and decision-making logics. This will be a real asset when it comes to communicating effectively with our industrial partners on future projects.

What would you say to a future student who is hesitating about joining an ISAE-SUPAERO Advanced Master®?

Joining an Advanced Master® at ISAE-SUPAERO is much more than acquiring new skills: It is living a rich, stimulating and concrete human and intellectual experience. Whether you come from the professional world or are a student, you will find here a demanding training programme, but also a real springboard for developing your career. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone: You’ll grow from it.

Any advice for a successful Advanced Master® at ISAE-SUPAERO?

Give it your all, don’t be afraid to try, to fail, and then bounce back! It’s through experimentation that you learn the most, especially about yourself. It’s a great way of discovering so many things, and maybe even discovering that you have the soul of an entrepreneur!

His career before ISAE-SUPAERO

What was your academic background before joining ISAE-SUPAERO?

Before joining ISAE-SUPAERO, I had obtained a degree in mechanical engineering from the École Nationale Supérieure Polytechnique in Yaoundé. This was supplemented by a short course on finite element methods applied to aeronautics, in particular using the MSC NASTRAN/PATRAN software.

Why did you choose to pursue an Advanced Master® at ISAE-SUPAERO?

I’d always dreamed of a career in aeronautics, and unlike today, at that time there was no courses in aeronautics in my country.

The AM ASAA was the perfect match for what I was looking for: training that will help me acquire the skills I need to be a major player in the field of aircraft airworthiness. The unique AM ASAA programme offered by ISAE Supaero in conjunction with ENAC and EOAA, in addition to the academic excellence and worldwide recognition of the institutions, left me no choice.

What lessons, projects or activities at the AM have impressed you the most?

What impressed me most was the quality of the teaching and the diversity of the lecturers. I immediately felt close to the industry because the lecturers were industry professionals with an excellent teaching approach. Exchanges with experts in airworthiness certification, group work on concrete cases (e.g. post type certification activities), and visits to the industry enabled me to firmly anchor the skills I had acquired.

How does the AM contribute to your technical and professional skills?

The MS has had a considerable impact on my technical and professional skills.

On the technical side, it has given me a deeper understanding of airworthiness certification requirements, aircraft certification processes and an in-depth knowledge of aircraft systems.

From a professional point of view, this Master’s degree has given me the ability to work as part of a team, with multiple group projects, critical analysis and technical communication skills, which are essential for working in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments.

Today, these skills enable me to take on both technical responsibilities for the airworthiness of aircraft in Cameroon and Central Africa, and teaching responsibilities at the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority Training School.

Did you carry out a work assignment or internship during your AM?

Yes, I did a work placement at Aeroconseil (AKKA Technologies), now Sabena Technics.

My internship enabled me to implement EASA’s ‘Level of Involvement’ concept in the supplementary type certification process, which was brand new in 2018. The application of this concept in the DOA has had concrete results in terms of simplifying the certification process and reducing the time taken to obtain STCs. During my internship, I also ran awareness-raising workshops for engineers in the certification teams on the new certification requirements for lithium-ion batteries.

His current career path

What is your current position? In which company or organisation do you work?

I am both the Head of Training at the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority’s Training School and a Technical Manager in Aircraft Airworthiness and SAFA inspector in the same authority’s Air Safety Department.

What business sector are you in today?

In the supervision of airworthiness and aircraft maintenance, as well as aeronautical training.

How has your Advanced Master® contributed to your professional integration or career development?

The Advanced Master® has been a real career accelerator. It now enables me to take on a dual role, as both a technical engineer and a team manager. I systematically stand out, in a good way, thanks to a solid background of high-level knowledge, not only in aircraft airworthiness but also in civil aviation safety more generally.

My teaching skills quickly came to the fore, thanks in particular to the workshop leadership responsibilities I took on during my work placement. This experience contributed directly to my promotion, when I took over the pedagogical management of the CCAA Training School.

Thanks to the academic credibility of ISAE-SUPAERO and the recognition of the programme by industry players, I was able to establish myself as an airworthiness reference within Cameroon’s civil aviation sector. This position has also enabled me to play an active part in large-scale regional projects, such as the development of Community regulations on initial and continuing airworthiness for the CEMAC zone.

What specific skills developed at ISAE-SUPAERO do you use the most today?

Can you tell us about your background?

I graduated in aerospace engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology in Indonesia. Driven by my dream of continuing my studies in this field, I found ISAE-SUPAERO the ideal school.

For my end-of-studies placement, I joined Ascendance, a promising Toulouse-based company specialising in hybrid-electric propulsion technology and vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft. After my placement, I continued to work at Ascendance as a test engineer, focusing on the VTOL aircraft called ATEA, to prepare it for its first flight. This role introduced me to various engineering teams and deepened my understanding of aircraft development.

I actively contributed to the systems integration bench, from its initial delivery to its deployment. This bench, connected to a real-time simulator, plays a crucial role in product verification and validation. This experience strengthened my expertise in aeronautical systems testing and integration, which in turn fuelled my passion for aerospace innovation.

Why did you decide to pursue an international career?

I grew up in a small village and, at the time, I never envisaged pursuing an international career. However, I was always determined to continue my studies, which led me to obtain a degree in aerospace and aeronautical engineering. As I progressed in this field, my passion for seeking out new challenges and broadening my experiences grew, which eventually led me to decide to pursue an international career.

Beyond my studies, I see an international career as an incredible opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture, adapt to a different system and experience a way of life different from my own. I’m very excited to see how my perspective will evolve and how this journey will shape me as a person. Even now, I think it’s a path worth taking.

What advice would you give to someone looking for an international career? Or one word that would define your career?

In the middle of my undergraduate studies, I started to explore the possibilities open to me for my future. Fortunately, I discovered a scholarship offered by ISAE-SUPAERO for a Masters programme – perfectly aligned with my goals. However, the journey wasn’t easy at first. I understand that everyone comes from different backgrounds and circumstances, which can lead to varied opportunities.

Despite this, it’s essential to stay focused on your goals if they’re really important to you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help: make connections with new people, attend relevant events and seek advice to better understand what you’re looking for. Taking the first step is never easy – it certainly wasn’t for me – but once I started, I couldn’t stop. I ended up finding my way.

For me, ISAE-SUPAERO was a life-changing experience, both personally and professionally!

What was your academic background before joining ISAE-SUPAERO?

After two years in the ‘Classe Préparatoire aux Grandes Écoles’, I joined INSA Toulouse as a student in the Process and Environmental Engineering speciality (GPE, now GP3E). This course offers in-depth training in industrial, chemical and energy processes and the transformation of matter, as well as in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, renewable and fossil energies, environmental regulations and life cycle analysis.

Why did you choose to pursue a Advanced Master® at ISAE-SUPAERO?

My end-of-studies work placement at INSA, at Airbus, gave me the opportunity to explore aircraft life-cycle analysis and planetary limits. These environmental issues, applied to the aeronautics sector, aroused a keen interest and motivation in me. Wanting to deepen my knowledge in this field, I identified the TAS AERO Advanced Master® as an ideal course. Its global and sufficiently detailed approach to aeronautics, without focusing excessively on one specific aspect, corresponded perfectly to my expectations. What’s more, as my career ambition is to move into eco-design, the Aircraft Design specialisation offered me a valuable perspective on the different levers available.

What lessons, projects or activities at the MS have impressed you the most?

The group project on the design of a hydrogen aircraft made a particularly strong impression on me, as it brought together some of the knowledge and skills I had acquired during the Advanced Master®, as well as my interest in alternatives that could help to reduce the environmental footprint of aviation. The project was made all the more interesting by the fact that it was being carried out in collaboration with ONERA. I also found that there was a good balance between theory and practice.

How does the AM contribute to your technical and professional skills?

This Advanced Master® gave me the knowledge I was looking for about the product itself, so that I could better master the technical aspects, such as the materials used and their limits, dimensioning, optimisation, constraints, etc. Many of these elements enabled me to learn more quickly in my current job, and are useful to me today. Many of these elements enabled me to train more quickly for my current job, and are still useful to me today.

Did you carry out a work assignment or internship during your AM?

After the 6 months of theoretical training, and instead of continuing with a 6-month internship, I was taken on by the IRT Saint Exupéry for a one-year assignment at ISAE-SUPAERO, to work on research topics in decarbonisation and reducing the environmental footprint. In particular, I contributed, on a small scale, to the Aeromaps tool (formerly CAST), and helped develop a Life Cycle Analysis module in an aircraft sizing and optimisation tool (FAST-OAD).

I’m an eco-design engineer at Airbus Commercial Aircraft.

As mentioned above, the Advanced Master® enabled me to acquire key elements about the design, functioning and operation of an aircraft. It also enabled me to add this knowledge to that which I already had in the environment, making my profile attractive to the aeronautical sector, for which decarbonation is a very topical subject.

What was your academic background before joining ISAE-SUPAERO?

Before joining ISAE-SUPAERO, I graduated from INSA Toulouse with a degree in mechanical engineering, specialising in systems engineering. I also studied space engineering during a semester abroad at Politecnico di Milano.

Did you already have professional experience before the Advanced Master®?

Yes, I did my end-of-studies placement (6 months) at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California. I worked in molecular physics, studying in particular the phenomena of gas sublimation within cometary ices.

Why did you choose ISAE-SUPAERO for your Advanced Master®?

Joining ISAE-SUPAERO was first and foremost a childhood dream. After my internship at NASA, I thought it was finally time to give myself the means to make it come true. What’s more, it’s one of the most recognised routes into the space sector in France. The school has a reputation for excellence and a strong network in industry and space agencies.

How did you hear about our Advanced Master® programme?

This Advanced Master® has been recommended to me by many professionals in the field, both researchers and engineers.

What specific skills or knowledge have you come to acquire in this programme?

When I came to ISAE-SUPAERO, I naturally wanted to specialise in space engineering, but I also wanted to leave some doors open for the future, as I was already very specialised in mechanical engineering. I was delighted to discover orbital mechanics, which has become my favourite subject.

What subjects, projects, challenges or experiences have particularly impressed you during your training?

The course is very well trained, and I discovered broad aspects of aerospace engineering. However, I particularly enjoyed the highly technical subjects such as mission analysis and thermal engineering, which require broad and solid knowledge. The end-of-study project (Integrated Team Project) was by far the most interesting, because it was the longest: I was able to grasp all the technical complexity of a space mission, and choose the subjects I wanted to study in greater depth.

In your opinion, what are the main advantages of the AM that you have followed?

The main advantage of this master’s programme is its technical orientation. Unlike other Advanced Master® that focus more on management or soft skills, ISAE-SUPAERO has chosen to focus on the technical side. I think that makes all the difference. In fact, several of my fellow students have gone into new fields thanks to the scientific knowledge they acquired at the school. Access to numerous associations (Scube, Diving, Astronomy, etc.) made this year one of the best of my time at School.

How would you describe student life at ISAE-SUPAERO?

The School has a wealth of facilities and associations. You can take part in a staggering number of sports and join a large number of technical associations.

What are your career plans?

After my work placement, I’d like to do a PhD in orbital mechanics, if possible at ISAE-SUPAERO. Otherwise, joining a space agency is also one of my long-term goals (why not as an astronaut?).

How will your Advanced Master® prepare you to achieve these goals?

This Advanced Master® gives me the necessary legitimacy to enter this field, which was still difficult to access with my engineering degree alone.

Have you completed a work placement or assignment as part of your AM?

Yes, I’m currently doing an internship at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Washington DC, where I’m working on optimal trajectories to reach Lagrange points L4 and L5.

Did you have any international experience during your training?

I was also lucky enough to take part in an ESA training course at the beginning of the year, in Belgium and Germany. This training was designed to prepare future operators for satellite control rooms.

What would you say to a future student who is hesitating about joining an ISAE-SUPAERO Advanced Master®?

If someone is passionate about space, I’d tell them not to hesitate. This programme is really worth it. It’s clearly one of the best choices I’ve made in my career. I’ve had a passion for space ever since I was a kid, and this programme has enabled me to turn that passion into reality.
